AAUP and TNB announced the signing of a fund agreement for student’s scholarships of doctoral program in business a joint program with Indiana University of Pennsylvania-USA, this came during a press conference held at AAUP campus- Ramallah. The agreement was signed by the two parties TNB General Manager Mr. Ahmad Hassan, President Assistant of AAUP Eng. Bara Asfour, with the attendance of TNB Chairman of Board of Directors Mr. Talal Nasser Eldin and AAUP Chairman of Boards of Directors Dr. Yousef Asfour, TNB board member Mr. Samer Ezraq, Academic Advisor Prof. Waleed Deeb.
Under the agreement, TNB will grant two scholarships with an amount of 100,000 USD which will be disbursed over a three years period as scholarships dedicated only for students in the Ph.D. program in Business with preference given to female students, with a condition that total GPA must not be less than 3.
During the conference, Mr. Hassan expressed his pride towards the Palestinian universities and its academic levels that are recently categorized as world-class Universities. As he was pleased of the cooperation relationship with AAUP. Furthermore, he praised the role of AAUP in raising the academic and scientific level of Palestinian students, and establishing the Ph.D. program in Business the first of its kind in Palestine, that will impact in the development and improvement of Palestinian national institutions and companies.
He also added that TNB provides funding for Ph.D. program in business scholarships comes within its social responsibility, annually allocating about 4% of its net profits, making the education sector the largest share. This comes from the bank’s belief the importance of investing in the Palestinian human recourse to improve the Palestinian civilization and economy.
Eng. Bara Asfour President Assistant at AAUP assured to the importance of the support of the private sector for higher education specially for international unique programs, that aims to graduate professionals that meet with the needs of the market. As a result, will contribute in raising the administrative economic sector and other career fields, as it will improve citizens lives.
As he added that the doctoral program in business at AAUP is a joint program with Indiana University of Pennsylvania-USA. The program is considered to be the first of its kind in Palestine, also a unique international program that AAUP offers to enable Palestinian youths and provide them career opportunities without the need to travel aboard and paying extra expenses for their study, adding that this program will also be taught by both Indiana and Arab American faculty members at AAUP campus in Ramallah.
As he explained that any distinction in life is an outcome of achieving typical partnerships, where it has proven its quality and efficiency in building Palestinian efforts taking its roles in the national institutions. He assured that AAUP is committed in building international and local scientific partnerships that aims in achieving AAUP’s goals in enhancing higher education and scientific research to raise and develop civilization.
