Arab American University in partnership with the Japanese Representative to the Palestinian Authority, held an introductory meeting of scholarships awarded by the Japanese government to Palestinian students to obtain Master and PhD degrees from Japanese universities.
The lecture was opened by the Vice President for Planning and Development Dr. Osama Salameh in presence of the Japanese Representative Emma Taka and Nizar Marouf, and graduate of a Japanese university Dr. Laith Sbihat, he pointed that the University is always seeking to inform its staff and students of the most important scholarships offered by friendly countries on global or Arab level, calling everyone to benefit from this meeting to learn about the grant provided by the Japanese government and applying conditions, noting that the target group are students and academics under the age of 34 years.
Dr. Laith Sbihat, who graduated from a Japanese university, talked about life in Japan and its universities, noting that there are 750 universities in Japan, including 10 of the world's best universities. He pointed, Japanese people respect other cultures. Japanese representative at the PA takes good care of Palestinian students from the moment they enter Japan for study and continues even after graduation.
Representative of Japan to the Palestinian Authority Nizar Marouf mentioned the types of scholarships offered by the Japanese Government, including Government (MEXT) Scholarship, pointing that Japanese Ministry of Education supports foreign students by covering tuition fees and providing monthly stipend. Mentioning also applying procedure, required identification papers, application requirements and registration procedures, noting it’s a two years scholarship.
