AAUP concluded series visits for the largest high schools in northern West Bank for dental checkups. Over 1600 high-school students had a free dental checkup in Jenin, Tubas, Tulkarm and Qabatya.
The field visits that were organized by the Faculty of Dentistry students aimed to provide free dental health services and raise awareness among school students about teeth and how their teeth health is reflected on their own health.
The activities that were organized under collaboration with the education directorates in the targeted cities contained a free dental checkup for students inside their classes and pieces of advice about how to take care of their teeth. In addition to that, cases that need follow up were transferred to get free dental cure in the clinics of the Faculty of Dentistry in AAUP the main campus in Jenin.
These activities were organized and planned with the Department of graduate affairs under Dr. Bashar Daraghmeh- the Dean of the Deanship of Student Affairs. Dr. Daraghmeh commenting on these visits said: “this activity comes among the activities that AAUP does to encourage providing services for the local community. It enhances the volunteering spirit in students, especially the student of the faculty who participated.” He asserted that AAUP will focus on developing such activities to reach out a larger number of beneficiaries in the coming years and thanked the education directorates for their support.
Mr. Tariq Alawneh- the Head of the Education Directorate in Tulkarem appreciated the role that AAUP does and indicated that this activity had a positive effect on students and parents. He said that some cases will be transferred to AAUP clinics for free follow up, and he wished for such activities to continue as they benefit the community.
