The University organized an orientation day for its new students for the academic year 2018/2018, to introduce them to their programs, university’s faculties, various departments which helps to enhance the relationship between the student and his university.
After the national anthem and reciting some verses of the Holy Koran then reading Al-Fateha on the memory of the souls of the martyrs , The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, opened the event with a speech welcoming the students, congratulating them and accepting them as students whom seek for knowledge, as they will be the contributors of the Palestinian society, through proposing their creations in national institutions.
Abu Zuhri presented some academic advice for the new students to facilitate their integration in the academic process and to utilize the educational environment provided by the university in research, creative thinking and development in their personal skills. As well as the importance of their participation in all the extracurricular activities organized in the campus, and conduct good behavior, which makes them an honorable title to their parents and families, also ambassadors of science presenting their university wherever they go.
This was followed by a paragraph presented by a lecturer from Media Department at the University, Mr. Said Abu Maala, entitled "How to be unique at the University." He provided several tips for students on how to use their university life in all its details, benefiting them from their first day till graduation. Also how to build their future, explaining the importance of diversity in university life and identify the most important pillars that the student must walk throughout years of study.
Mr. Abdel-Moneim Abul-Hassan, Manager of Planning and Systems Analysis Department, explained the academic schedule, university’s map and registration process, then the PR employee Mahmoud Abu Farha provided a guide about social networking sites and how to see the latest news and decisions issued by the university administration.
Mr. Abdel Hadi Odeh, the Manager of HP company in Palestine, who is one of the graduates of the university, explained his experience when entering the university and how he benefited from his time during his university life, while his study and his after graduation, adding that since joining the university in 2001, the university has advanced and improved its infrastructure, bringing it to international standard levels competing with international universities.
As this day also included many art shows, and then the new students went to their faculties to meet with the deans and heads of departments where they were introduced in details about their specialties and then took a tour around the buildings and laboratories.
